Born in Cordoba, Argentina in 1949, Norberto Luis Romero, author of several books of magical and fantastic tales, has lived in Madrid, Spain since 1975. Among his several publications are Transgresiones, Canción de cuna para una mosca doméstica, Signos de descomposición and El Momento del Unicornio. His stories have been highly acclaimed and he is one of the most noted of contemporary authors in Spain. In 1999 he won the Antonio Machado Prize for Short Stories (Premio de narraciones breves). Translator H. E. Francis lives part time in Huntsville, Alabama -- where he was a professor at the University of Alabama at Huntsville -- and Madrid. He has translated numerous stories and published several volumes of his own short and longer fictions.
